Who is NCSSM SG?

Student Government works with Academic Programs, Student Life, Institutional Advancement, and other departments and administrators across campus to build a more supportive academic setting, a stronger social community, and a healthier campus climate for students. In addition to hosting events and funding clubs, the SG budget is dedicated to special initiatives and projects that benefit the student body and improve the student experience.

Zain Patel (He/Him) - Student Senate President

Hey y’all! My name is Zain, and I am excited to serve as your Student Senate President this year. I'm originally from Lumberton, North Carolina, and I attended Lumberton High School. As your Senate President, my goals are to advocate for the student body, ensure transparency in all Student Government legislation, collaborate with Morganton’s SGA, and work closely with committee leads to enhance our campus experience. In my free time, you'll likely find me hanging out with friends, working out at the gym, or running track. I look forward to having an amazing year!


Alina Sohail (She/Her) - Student Body Treasurer

Hi guys! My name is Alina and I am from the Oakwood School in Greenville! I am so stoked to be your Student Body Treasurer. Some goals I have for this year are to increase financial literacy for students, create fun events for SG, and work together with the student body to give you all what you want! I love singing, dancing, and hanging out with friends. I can't wait to meet all of you and work towards sustaining NCSSM's awesome school community.

Saachi Arun (She/Her) - Chair of Student Affairs

Hi everyone! I'm Saachi and my hometown is Morrisville, NC. I'm so excited to serve as your Senior Senator this year. As Director of Student Affairs, I plan to make this the best year yet, with plenty of super fun events (more off-campus events) and continued traditions to uplift student life, making sure that we always have something to look forward to amidst the stress of school. In my free time, I love to play volleyball, work out, sing and play the piano and guitar, dance, read, drink boba, listen to music, and hang out with my friends. I can't wait to meet you and I look forward to working with you all to make this an amazing year!

Zora Hill (/) - Chair of Mental Health and Accessibility

Hi everyone! I'm Zora and I will be a Senior Senator this school year. I am looking forward to raising awareness for accessibility concerns on campus and improving the state of mental health across the student body. For students to do their best academically and socially, their voices must be heard, so  I’m here to listen to you guys. Skyler Qu (He/Him) - Co-Chair of Campus Improvement and Renovations

Hey y'all! My name is Skyler Qu, and I will be your Senior Senator for the upcoming school year! I will be co-chair of the Campus Improvement and Renovations committee a long with our lovely senate secretary Leah Nikhil! Reach me out if you have any ideas or suggestions! I'm all ears :3. Besides that, I enjoy spending my time swimming, bird-watching, and hanging out with my friends.

Anushka Pramanik (She/Her) - Director of Campus Climate


Hello! My name is Anushka and I am from Mallard Creek High in Charlotte! As Director of Campus Climate. I plan to enhance inclusivity at NCSSM by facilitating open forums on race, ethnicity, and sexual orientation issues while collaborating with the Chief Diversity Officer and 3CDC leadership to address and resolve these concerns. My goal is to ensure every student feels heard, valued, and supported. In my free time, I love overanalyzing films, crocheting, and spending copious amounts of money on iced lattes. Viviana Gardner (She/Her) - Academic Support Liaison 


Hi!! I'm Viviana Gardner and I am your Academic Support Liaison for the 2024-2025 school year! I’m originally from Greenville, but I now reside in Wendell. I love to read and write and more often than not, you can catch me around campus hanging out with my friends. My goal in this position is to inform students about the Academic Support program while also working to improve upon the nature of the program itself to allow for an environment where students can grow and thrive within their academics.

Tahalia Mccalla (She/Her) - Co-Director of Community Relations


Hello! I am Tahalia! I was born and raised in Jamaica for 12 years but now live in Mebane North Carolina! I am so excited to be a part of Student Government this year and work in my role as Co-director of Community Relations! My plans for next year are centered around community service, educating students on issues happening around them and promoting local businesses and events. Overall, my job is to ensure that all NCSSM students are exposed to the beauty of Durham and are also aware of how they can add to its beauty. In my free time, I enjoy reading, shopping, and hanging out with my friends! Feel free to reach out with any questions, concerns, or ideas you would like to see implemented next year!

Anusha Yadav (She/Her) - Co-Director of Community Relations


Hi! My name is Anusha and I am one of your Directors of Community Relations this year! As NCSSM Durham students, we must understand the diverse and rich community we are living in. Remaining ignorant of the local issues around us is simply unacceptable considering the impacts NCSSM as a school had and has on the surrounding community. I hope to strengthen the student-community bond through service projects, educational opportunities, and advocacy efforts that work to support and give back to the Durham community. In my free time, I love to dance (bhangra and Bharatanatyam), go on coffee runs with friends, and do lots of reading! If you have any questions, concerns, or ideas, feel free to reach out!

Hi! My name is Anika Moolan, and I will be this year’s Director of Morganton-Durham communications! I’m from Cary, and one of my favorite parts about NCSSM is our club community. This year, my goal is to increase connections between clubs at Durham and Morganton, so that our clubs can make even bigger impacts on the NCSSM community. Cathy Deng (Any Pronouns) - Director of Information Technology


Hey everyone! I serve as the Director of Information Technology at NCSSM-Durham. My duties in Student Government mainly relate to managing the website (which you're looking at!). I plan to improve its organization and keep it updated through out the year for easier navigability. I'm originally from Cary and I love to eat potatoes!

Pranav Mettu (He/Him) - PFM/Food Services Liaison


Hi! My name is Pranav Mettu and I'm from Rocky Mount NC. I'm super excited to serve on NCSSM's Student Government, as I have many ideas to work towards a better future for NCSSM. Through my role as Food Services Liaison, I hope to create more food options for those with dietary restrictions/needs and act upon student feedback about NCSSM's food services. In addition, I hope to develop a system in which the PFM has access to fresher ingredients from neighboring farms and markets around Durham, in order to create healthier meals for the NCSSM community. I hope to accomplish these goals by working with our cafeteria staff, managers, and industry professionals. Outside of my position, you can probably find me listening to music, running/swimming, or beekeeping. Feel free to reach out with any questions or concerns!

Yashaswi (Yashwi) Saini (She/Her) - Director of Public Relations


Hey everyone! I'm Yashwi and I am from Wilson. I love listening to music, watching movies, and exploring Durham with my friends. I will be your Director of Public Relations for the 24-25 school year! I aim to create an easy, reliable link between Student Government and the student body. I want to make it easier for students to interact with SG and stay updated about what’s happening around school. I look forward to talking to people and feel free to reach out with questions!

Gyani Patel (She/Her) - Director of Online-Residential Communications


Hi! I'm Gyani, and I’m from Asheville, NC. I’m so excited to serve as your Director of Online-Residential Communications this year! For the most part, my responsibility is to encourage communication and build community between our NCSSM residential (both Durham and Morganton) and online programs. I also work with faculty/staff to promote the utilization of various resources and opportunities for online students. In my free time I like to read, hike, play music, and get boba with my friends. I’d love to hear your ideas, or answer any questions, so definitely feel free to reach out!

Hima Manne (She/Her) - Director of State Relations

Hey everyone! I'm Hima and I'm excited to be your Durham Director of State Relations this year. I hope to dedicate my efforts this year to collaborating with other UNC system schools to address concerns in DEI and sustainability. As a part of State relations, I also hope to work towards making higher education more affordable by lobbying for increased state funding for need-based aid. Representing and improving out campus consists of learning about issues that press our school, so please reach out with questions and concerns. Excited to meeting you all this year! 

Adrian Bedeley (He/Him) - Director of State Relations


Hey y’all! My name is Adrian Bedeley and I will serve as your Director of State Relations this year. As your Director of State Relations, I will act as a liaison between NCSSM and the broader UNCASG. In this position, I aim to establish a DEI initiative across all UNC campuses. I am also focused on empowering student leaders with the training and legislative knowledge needed to excel in their roles. Additionally, my passion for environmental sustainability, sparked by an Environmental Science J-Term, drives me to support initiatives that back student-led sustainability projects. My commitment to social justice, student empowerment, and environmental protection defines my approach to creating positive change.

Mackenzie Sanford (She/Her) - Sustainability Liaison

Hi! I'm MacKenzie, your Sustainability Liaison for the upcoming school year. I'm from Laurinburg, North Carolina, and attended Scotland High School. With this position, I will work to synthesize the unique viewpoints and work of our Sustainability Project Leaders and other student government members to create long-lasting initiatives for the betterment of sustainability at NCSSM. Hi, I'm Kaavya! I am from Raleigh and I can't wait to be your Durham Attaché Liaison this year! I will mainly focus on acting as a bridge between the Student Government Treasury and the NCSSM Foundation in collaborations and projects that arise. Shirley Tian (She/They) - Club Funding Advisor

Hi! I'm Shirley and I'm originally from Charlotte, NC. I love golfing, working out, building/playing guitars and pianos, and frolicking with my friends. My dream is to work in finance, and as your Club Funding Advisor, I'm excited to use my experience and interests to make a positive impact on the place we call home. Malcolm Louigarde (He/Him) - Inventory Advisor

Hi guys, my name is Malcolm Louigarde and I'll be your Inventory Advisory for the 2024-2025 school year! I am from Concord, NC which is a little north of Charlotte-- there really isn't that much to do over there to be honest. I love math, journaling, and playing pickleball with my friends. For this upcoming school year, I plan on ensuring that all of our clubs receive everything they need in a timely fashion to keep everything running smoothly. Excited to work with you all this year!
